Nigel is a OCT Certified Teacher, Maxwell Leadership Certified Member, Dr. Eric Thomas You Owe You 365 Community Member, Author, Spoken Word Artist, Community Leader and Advocate. Nigel is a graduate of York University’s Masters of Education program with a Post Secondary Education Diploma. Nigel has acquired an Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from Oakwood University as well as a Bachelor of Education degree from York University.
The Success Beyond Limits program that services grade 8 students in Jane and Finch community by transitioning students into high school by assisting them in acquiring their first high school credit while providing them the opportunity to experience learning at a post secondary institution to dispel the myths associated with the post secondary education experience. Through this community partnership Nigel was involved in the teaching of the curriculum, partnering with parents to create self advocacy skills to navigate secondary education, planning and implementing an annual career day and graduation for all students who successfully completed their first high school credit. Nigel has also been the Master of ceremonies for many Success Beyond Limits graduations. Success Beyond Limits has truly demonstrated the power within the mentorship continuum where Nigel has had the privilege over the years to be involved in. The strength in community engagement and the hands-on intentional mentorship and programming has impacted students in a positive way for generations. Teaching in this program every year is beyond impactful rather this is Revolutionary! Nigel has served as Success Beyond Limits Student Success Department Head for the past 3 years.
Nigel has spent over 15 years working with disenfranchised and marginalized groups in inner-city Toronto. Using his lived experience and work with children and youth over the years, Nigel combines the power of the Spoken Word to inspire and empower his audience to realize their God given purpose and potential to achieve greatness.
